The CF Packing System
Bins move automatically to bin tippers:
- Bins clamped, tilted
- Door opens gently letting melons flow onto metering belt
- Once melons are clear of bin, the tipper continues it's cycle
Once melons are placed on the metering belt, a sensor overhead monitors their flow:
- Adjusts speed to feed the roller grader consistently
On the roller grader, melons are rolled into proper orientation and enter washing area:
- Controlled pressure nozzles cleanse field dust off melons
- Gentle washing via long bristle brushes
- A gentle solution sanitized each melon
- Drying and polishing with high velocity air
Melons are transferred to initial grading area:
- Culls ejected
- Melons graded by human eye and sent to computer sorting via conveyer
Melons continue through grading station to the sizing conveyer:
- Each melon is cradled between four rollers
- Remains there as it is conveyed over electronic load cell
- Melons are accurately weighed and transported on the address programmed by the operator
- Individually sized melons are pushed from the conveyer to the packaging area
Computer Precision
From the operator control center:
- The operator can program the computer to create a drop schedule
- Operator can also change the minimum and maximum weight or any group of melons
Sized and Counted melons are packed in bins for order fulfillment.
- Melons are weighed at an accuracy of plus or minus 1/4 Lbs
- Accurate sizing enables attractive patterned pack placement in bins
- Good for direct-from-bin merchandising
- Reduces bruising in transit
